The extensions create this because the leverage factor is changed by simply adjusting your hand on the gripper. It is said that each JB Gripper is like having five handgrippers in one. Actually you have a much wider range of poundages than you can imagine. Each time you adjust and move your hand up or down the handle, the leverage changes as does the workload. By simply moving up the handle the width of your finger you make a substantial change in the workload. If you want to add just a slight amount of resistance you can move your hand just slightly to create this.
